CLEARWATER – The Clearwater Civitan Club held its annual Law Week meeting on May 20 with Clearwater Police Chief Anthony Holloway. The club also awarded Clearwater Detective Harry Dodson with its annual Officer of the Year award.
Chief Holloway described Dodson as a dedicated officer whose patrol skills were evident as his squad was recently recognized for its part in significantly impacting crime and enhancing community relations in the city’s west district. He is currently assigned as a burglary unit detective in the Criminal Investigation Division.
While off-duty, Dodson spends hours as a mentor and leader for area youth through his church. To ensure the students have a safe environment to come together, he often donates his own money and time to sponsor lock-ins for the teens, many of whom have financial and personal challenges
Dodson also works with his family to help the youth group conduct fundraisers aimed to provide economic aid for charitable organizations and those in need locally, nationally, and internationally.
The president of the Civitan Club, Richard Fuller, presented Dodson with a plaque for Excellent Performance of Police Duties and Service to the Community, along with a check.
