Clearwater libraries offer summer fun

CLEARWATER The Clearwater Public Library System is hosting summer reading activities throughout the summer. Highlights include:
Video gaming Mondays, 2:30 p.m., through July at North Greenwood Library, 905 N. Martin Luther King Jr. Ave.
Crafts on Tuesdays Tuesdays, 2:30 p.m., through July at North Greenwood Library.
Summer Storytime Wednesdays, 2:30 p.m., through July at North Greenwood Library, 2741 S.R. 580.
Family Storytime Wednesdays, 10 a.m., through July 29 at the Main Library, 100 N. Osceola Ave. There are stories, songs, movies and crafts.
Kids chess club Wednesdays, 3:30 p.m., through July at Countryside Library. 2741 State Road 580.
Family Storytime Thursdays, 10 a.m., through July at Countryside Library.
Melody Hounds Thursdays, 10 a.m., through June 30 at East Library, 2251 Drew St. This teaches children ages 21/2 through 8 musical concepts.
Classical Baby Thursdays, 10 a.m., through July 23 at East Library. Parents with young children may enjoy music while reading age-appropriate materials. Designed for children up to 2 years old who are not age-appropriate for the Melody Hounds program.
Craft and a film Thursdays, 10 a.m., through July 23 at East Library. Enjoy a short book-based film and create a take-home craft. Parents must stay with children younger than 6. This is appropriate for toddlers through elementary age.
Movie night Fridays, 2:30 p.m., through July 24 at North Greenwood Library.
Dascaloja Puppeteers Friday, June 26, 10 a.m., at the Main Library. The teen puppeteer troupe performs songs, folk tales and contemporary puppet plays. The show is recommended for children ages 6 and older.
Movies you should be reading Watch movies that were made based on classic books at East Library. Friday, June 24, 2 p.m., To Kill a Mockingbird, based on the book by Harper Lee. Friday, July 10, 2 p.m., Wuthering Heights, based on the book by Charlotte Bronte. Friday, July 24, Jurassic Park, based on the book by Michael Crichton. The movies are not intended for children younger than 13.
Magic Tree House Merlin Missions Saturday, June 27, 2 p.m., at East Library. Enjoy Magic Tree House related activities. Children must have read at least one of the books to participate. Register online. Children must be in grades 1 through 5.
Music with Mr. Richard Monday, June 29, 2 p.m., at the Main Library. Mr. Richard will perform a sing-along session of original, wacky songs as he accompanies himself on guitar, mandolin, ukulele and harmonica.
Ronald McDonald Tuesday, June 30, 2 p.m., at Countryside Library. Ronald will entertain kids with magic and other fun.
