CLEARWATER – Applications are being accepted through Aug. 4 for the 13th annual Citizen’s Academy, Clearwater 101, a 10-week program that provides citizens a hands-on learning experience about the people, equipment and infrastructure it takes to run Pinellas County’s second-largest city.
The program will begin with orientation, beginning on Tuesday, Sept. 9, 6 to 8:30 p.m., and ending on Nov. 18.
This interactive program is an educational experience for Clearwater residents interested in city affairs. Elected officials, department directors and city staff who share information about the city’s operations and key issues facing the city today lead the sessions. Participants must attend at least eight of the 10 sessions in order to graduate at a November City Council meeting.
A selection committee will choose 20 participants from the applications received. The committee will judge applications based on responses to questions while ensuring that the class reflects the diversity of the Clearwater community, with representatives from different neighborhoods and sections of the city.
Applications are available at www.myclearwater.com or by calling 562-4681. Applications are due by Monday, Aug. 4.
