SAFETY HARBOR - Detectives with Pinellas County Sheriff's crimes against children unit are seeking information about a suspicious man last seen about 2:43 p.m. Sunday, July 21, near Philippe Park in Safety Harbor.
According to a report from the sheriff's office, deputies responded to a call of a suspicious man near the park, 2424 Philippe Parkway.
According to detectives, a child in the playground overheard the man saying he wanted to kidnap the children who were playing there. Two witnesses observed the man watching the children and then he attempted to hide behind a tree before walking away from the playground. The man did not make any attempts to abduct a child.
The suspicious man was last seen walking north towards the park entrance prior to deputies’ arrival.
The man is described as a white male in his 50s, approximately 5 feet 6 six inches to 5 feet 9 nine inches, 180 to 200 pounds. The male has brownish blonde hair with a receding hairline and was wearing a black shirt with black pants.
