SAFETY HARBOR – An Oldsmar man was transported to a local hospital via Bayflite with life-threatening injuries Friday evening after a crash at the intersection of Bayshore Boulevard and Seventh Street South in Safety Harbor.
Southbound lanes of Bayshore Boulevard were shut down for several hours as Pinellas County Sheriff’s Major Accident Investigation Team worked the scene. According to investigators, the driver of a 2004 Volkswagen Passat was traveling northbound on Bayshore Boulevard about 5:20 p.m. Aug. 8, as the driver of a 1993 Kawasaki Motorcycle was traveling southbound on Bayshore.
The driver of the Passat, Joshua Miller, 28, of Safety Harbor slowed down as he approached Seventh Street South and began to make a left turn. The Kawasaki then struck the rear passenger side of the Passat.
The driver of the Kawasaki, Joshua Santostefano, 24, was ejected from the motorcycle. Deputies report that he was wearing a helmet. Miller was not injured during the crash.
At the time of the report, it was not yet known if alcohol or speed were a factor in the crash.
