CLEARWATER – During the first week in September, the Clearwater Aging Well Center at the Long Center, 1501 N. Belcher Road, will offer three new monthly series targeted to audiences 55 and older. All programs, held in cooperation with several of the center’s partners, are free to the public.
Program dates and titles will be:
• Suncoast Hospice: This series will meet the first Tuesday of each month from 11 a.m. to noon, and will cover the services that Suncoast Hospice offers as well as specific topics of importance. Topics and dates will be: Sept. 3, “Something for Everyone”; Oct. 1, “Pet Therapy”; Nov. 5, “The Gift of Advance Care Planning”; and Dec. 3, “Planning Panel Discussion.”
• Ethics: This series is offered the first Wednesday of each month from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m., representatives of the Applied Ethics Institute of St. Petersburg College will lead the series. Topics and dates will be: Sept. 4, “Happiness and Ethics: What Makes our Lives Go Well” with Barbara S. Grano, MPA; Oct. 2 “Electronic Medical Records and Ethics,” with Dr. Eric H. Carver; Nov. 6, “Aging and Ethics: Courage Under Stress,” with Eric Tucker, Ph.D.; and Dec. 4, ‘The Law and Ethics: Senior Issues Explored,” with Susan Demers, J.D. Consumer Protection. This series is sponsored through the Justice and Consumer Services Division of Pinellas County. The series will meet the first Thursday of each month from 11 a.m. to noon and topics will be: Sept. 5, “Auto Buying, Leasing and Repair”; Oct. 3, “Avoiding Fraud and Scams”; Nov. 7, “Charities and Charitable Solicitations”; Dec. 5, “Internet Safety.”
