Citations issued in school zones CLEARWATER – In a four-day traffic detail in and around schools on the first week of classes, the Clearwater Police Department’s traffic enforcement team and community liaison team worked together to create a safe environment for students. The following violations were issued: • 20 – passing a stopped school bus • 93 – violation of a traffic control device • 13 – speed • 7 – speeding in a school zone • 16 – all other moving violations • 43 – all other non-moving violations • 3 – criminal citations • 37 – warnings • 1 – felony habitual driving with license suspended or restricted • 1 – felony fleeing and eluding
Police promotions honored CLEARWATER – On Aug. 23, four members of the Clearwater Police Department were promoted at a special ceremony. Sergeant Richard Harris became a lieutenant, and Officer Christopher White, Corporal Jeffrey DiVincent and Detective Natalia Illich-Hailey became sergeants.
Police seek info in cold case CLEARWATER – Eight years ago on Aug. 23, two masked men who barged into his apartment seeking drugs and money, according to a police report, shot Joshua Gunn. He died years later on May 12, 2010, from complications from his injuries. The crime occurred at 1383 S. Washington Ave., Apt. B, and remains unsolved. Clearwater police ask that anyone with information call 562-4242 to help solving this cold case.
