CLEARWATER – The city of Clearwater is accepting applications from artists, designers, and residents to transform metered parking spaces into temporary public parks, or “parklets,” at the Reclaim Your Space Event.
On Thursday, Nov. 7, several metered parking spaces along the Cleveland Street District will be transformed for a day into the mini parks. All parklets must be designed to promote love of Clearwater, recreation, green living, alternative transportation, or a combination of concepts.
A sample mini park will be on display at the Clearwater Farmer’s Market on Wednesday, Sept. 4., 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., on Cleveland Street.
“This one-day event is a ‘love note’ from the city to its residents,” said Lauren Matzke, planning manager and coordinator of the event. “It’s part of the ‘For the Love of Clearwater’ series, sponsored in part by the Clearwater Downtown Partnership.”
