CLEARWATER – The first of 26,000 new single stream recycling barrels are rolling into Clearwater. Residents will start seeing the blue recycling barrels in their neighborhoods the first week of September, and all single family homes in Clearwater will receive a barrel by Monday, Sept. 30, when the city begins its single stream recycling program.
The new-wheeled recycling barrels will allow residents to recycle more than ever before. The barrels feature an in-mold label on the lid to show residents all the materials accepted in the new program. Residents can check the collection day for their neighborhood in the information that will be delivered with the new barrels.
Officials are asking residents to store the new bins on their property and continue using their yellow bin until Sept. 30. The new program will allow the city to service the barrels with automated trucks, making recycling pickup cleaner, greener and more efficient.
