CLEARWATER – A memorial service for former Clearwater Police Chief Frank Daniels is set for Saturday, Oct. 12, 1 p.m. at the Moss Feaster Funeral Home Serenity Gardens Chapel, 13401 Indian Rocks Rd., Largo. Visitation is from noon to 1 p.m.
Daniels died Sept. 22, 2013, at age 85.
He was the city’s chief from 1968 to 1981. He joined the department on Jan. 16, 1949 and quickly worked his way up the ranks, according to Clearwater police. He became chief on Aug. 3, 1968, after Chief Willis Booth retired.
“Daniels established a modern communications system and reorganized the department by implementing three divisions – operations, administration and support services,” a police report said.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Suncoast Hospice Lavender Team.
