CLEARWATER – Clearwater police charged a Clearwater man on Oct. 9 in connection to a 2007 homicide, according to a police report.
The suspect, Justin Taylor, 24, has been booked into the Pinellas County Jail since May 10, 2011. He was “released” for his robbery with a deadly weapon or firearm charge and is awaiting trial on the following charges: Failure to appear for burglary, failure to appear on cruelty to animals, failure to appear on possession of cocaine, failure to appear on driving with license suspended or restricted, failure to appear on felon in possession of a firearm, general failure to appear, failure to appear felony, failure to appear on felonious possession of a firearm, and murder in the second degree.
He is also charged with possession of marijuana, and fleeing or eluding.
Clearwater police charged him with second degree murder because detectives allege he shot and killed Corey Bernard Brown at his home in Clearwater in 2007. During the course of a five-year investigation, detectives identified, located, and interviewed numerous people that provided information about Taylor’s involvement in the murder. In addition, recent DNA analysis allegedly links Taylor to evidence at the scene.
