CLEARWATER – Clearwater police arrested a suspect Nov. 6 in connection to a shooting.
Preston Bell, 26, of Clearwater allegedly pistol whipped and shot a man in what appeared to be a robbery in the area of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue and LaSalle Street, the report said. The victim was taken to a local hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries.
Police received a tip about Bell’s whereabouts and found him at the 1600 block of Fulton Street at a friend’s house. A SWAT callout was activated, due to the fact that Bell was possibly armed. Police contacted Bell and he was taken into custody without incident.
Bell is charged with robbery with a deadly weapon or firearm and aggravated battery touch, strike with a deadly weapon. He is being held at the Pinellas County Jail in lieu of $70,000 bond.
