CLEARWATER – “Agatha Christie’s The BBC Murders” set new attendance records Nov. 12-18 at the Capitol Theatre in downtown Clearwater’s Cleveland Street District.
Agatha Christie’s thriller sold 96 percent of all seats for the eight-performance run.
The Florida premiere of these four lost and found thrillers produced by Zev Buffman, Ruth Eckerd Hall president and CEO, opened to strong reviews.
“We are thrilled with the response from the community to the opening of our first, but not last, very own production, in this crown jewel in downtown Clearwater,” said Buffman in a press release. “In addition, more than 50 percent of the production staff and talent were from the Clearwater area, including many members of the Eckerd Theater Company.”
The production will open Jan. 15 at the Parker Playhouse in Fort Lauderdale’s Broward Center for the Performing Arts for a three-week engagement, then will continue on a national tour.
In spring of 2013, the Capitol Theatre will close for a major renovation that includes additional seating, expanded lobby areas, restrooms, dressing rooms, a new roof terrace and outdoor balconies and a fully equipped theatrical stage.
