CLEARWATER The public is invited to meet the four finalists for the Clearwater police chief on Tuesday, Dec. 15 from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Harborview Center, 300 Cleveland Street.
The public will have the chance to ask the candidates questions and provide feedback to the city manager.
The finalists include:
Eugenio (Gene) Bernal, deputy chief of the Orlando Police Department
Anthony Holloway, chief of police of the police department in Somerville, Mass.
John A. Jackson, chief of police in Alamosa, Colo.
Thomas V. Lawrence, commander in the Dallas Police Department
I believe we have identified four highly qualified police professionals to be considered to replace retiring Police Chief Sid Klein, said Clearwater City Manager Bill Horne in a press release. The final candidates reflect what our community believes in and have the experience to lead one of the premiere police departments in the nation. Now it is time to give the public an opportunity to give the candidates a closer look.
The candidates will be in town on Tuesday and Wednesday, Dec. 15 and 16 to meet one-on-one with police union officials, city council members and the city manager. Klein is set to retire on Friday, Feb. 26 after 29 years of service as the citys chief of police.
