CLEARWATER – Clearwater Gas Systems has announced the launch and implementation of an automated meter reading system to service all gas customers outside of the city limits of Clearwater.
Automatic meter reading is the technology of automatically collecting consumption, diagnostic and status data from a water meter or energy metering devices and transferring that data to a central database for billing, troubleshooting and analyzing. The technology mainly saves utility providers, like Clearwater Gas System, the expense of periodic trips to each physical location to read a meter.
“There are many intangible benefits to using AMR technology, including personal safety of city personnel, improved leak and theft detection and greater accuracy of meter reads,” said Bruce Griffin, Gas Operations Manager.
Clearwater Gas System will notice an annual savings of more than $100,000 with the help of the new technology, starting in 2015.
