DUNEDIN – Dunedin firefighter Craig Brown won the Dunedin Fire Department Firefighter of the Year award.
Brown’s peers cited his positive attitude, calm demeanor, caring skill and professional leadership. On one particular call, Brown was an acting lieutenant and was responsible for coordinating the structure fire attack and caring for a badly burned patient. Following the call, he made sure the crew was debriefed after the tragic event.
Brown, a nine-year veteran, was also cited for his regular dedication and attention to detail. He is also a mentor, teacher and positive role model. He is frequently assigned to Dunedin’s busiest engine company and the department says he is a great role model for new firefighters.
He frequently takes the lead of events such as the department’s open house, Muscular Dystrophy Association fund drive, pre fire planning sessions and other activities.
