Woman arrested on fugitive warrant

CLEARWATER – A Massachusetts woman was arrested Thursday, April 20, for grand theft of a motor vehicle and on a fugitive warrant from her state.
Sheriff’s deputies apprehended Shellie Lynn Hooben, 20, in her Ford Explorer on Main Street in Dunedin.
A 3-year-old girl who was with her was turned over to the sheriff’s office child protection investigators, reports said.
Deputies were told that the 3 year old, the biological mother and her boyfriend were in the area. According to reports, the woman had taken the 3 year old from Massachusetts without the grandmother’s permission. In addition, the couple was driving a late model Ford Explorer that had been stolen from the grandmother.
Charges are pending against a 24-year-old man who was arrested in a parking lot on Clearwater Beach. The suspect told deputies he contacted the Sheriff’s Office because he saw media reports concerning the incident and wanted to resolve the situation, reports said.
