Man dies in Clearwater crash

CLEARWATER – A 27-year-old man was killed in a traffic crash around 7:45 p.m. June 13 in Clearwater.
Michael David Bertone, 23, was driving a green Cherokee Laredo north on Keene Road and had entered the intersection of Sunset Point Road on a green light, according to a news release by the Clearwater Police Department. Casey Felix Schwartz, 28, of Dunedin, was driving a silver Nissan Sentra west on Sunset Point Road and hit the Cherokee as Schwartz ran the red light. The impact rolled the Cherokee onto its roof and it entered the southbound lanes of Keene, were it was struck by a third vehicle.
Clearwater Fire and Rescue declared that the passenger of the Cherokee, James Vincent Lehosit, of Jacksonville, had died on the scene from injuries sustained in the crash.
According to the news release, police say Schwartz “did give indications of possible impairment.” Charges are pending further investigation.
