Transient hit by car, seriously injured

CLEARWATER - A transient suffered serious injuries when he was hit by a car early Monday, July 14, said Elizabeth Daly-Watts, public safety spokeswoman.
Around 4:01 a.m., Eric J. Riles, 39, allegedly tried to cross Court Street in Clearwater between Lincoln and Missouri avenues. He was hit by Alex Wayne, 20, of Largo, who was driving a 2002 Jaguar, a police report said.
Police said the driver was not impaired and no charges have been filed.
Riles was flown to a hospital with serious injuries.
