Hawthorne named amateur radio volunteer coordinator

CLEARWATER – The Clearwater Amateur Radio Society congratulates Daniel Hawthorne-AI4ET on being named the new Laurel VEC Region 4 Amateur Radio Volunteer Examination Coordinator.
Hawthorne will now be responsible for coordinating other Laurel VEC Amateur Radio Testing teams in an eight state area, including Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia.
Hawthorne will continue coordinating the Laurel VEC Team serving the Tampa Bay area, which he has done for the past three years. The Laurel VEC team is sponsored by the Clearwater Amateur Radio Society, which sponsors free testing the second Monday of the month at 7:15 p.m. at the Clearwater Salvation Army Headquarters, 1625 N. Belcher Road.
The Laurel VEC is one of 14 volunteer examination coordinators authorized by the Federal Communications Commission to administer amateur radio license exams.
