CLEARWATER – John Paul Schlosser, 87, died Sunday, Dec. 10, 2006, at Mease Countryside Hospital, Safety Harbor.
Born in Columbus, Ohio, he moved here from Cincinnati in 1982. He was a graduate of Findlay College (now University of Findlay) and was inducted into their Athletic Hall of Fame in 1981. He earned his masters in administration from Xavier University, Cincinnati.
He was a football and basketball coach at Mt. Health High School until retiring as their principal after 23 years of service. He was drafted by the Philadelphia Eagles after college but enlisted in the Air Force during World War II.
Paul also worked in advertising services for Tampa Bay Newspapers in Seminole from February 1994 until August 2006. He was a member of Palm Harbor United Methodist Church.
Survivors include Jane, his wife of 56 years; two sons, Tim of Harrison, Ohio; John C. of Deerfield Beach; a daughter, Sue A. Schaefer of Tarpon Springs; six grandchildren, Traci, Joe, Lori, Erika, Shannon and Peyton; and six great-grandchildren, Jaley, Josh, Banks, Lindsey, Ethan and Avery.
Sylvan Abbey Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
Services are set for Thursday, Dec. 14, 2 p.m., at Palm Harbor United Methodist Church, located on Belcher Road one block north of Nebraska Avenue.
