Two council seats filled without opposition
Article published on Thursday, Dec. 28, 2006
CLEARWATER – Carlen Petersen and George Cretekos were elected to City Council seats without opposition. Norma Carlough, 70, and Paul Gibson, 58, will face off March 13 to fill the seat held by Bill Jonson, who must step down because of term limits.

Petersen, 52, has been a councilor since 2004 and Cretekos, 59, is a long-time aide to U.S. Rep. Bill Young, R-Indian Shores. Cretekos will take the seat of Hoyt Hamilton, who vacated the council spot when he left the city with his family for Atlanta.
