DUNEDIN – An event on Monday, March 24, at Auto Exchange Stadium, will promote major league baseball spring training in local communities.
The Clearwater City Council and several of their key leaders related to baseball, as well as some of the leadership from the Clearwater Chamber of Commerce, have been invited to join Dunedin city and chamber officials at the game between the Toronto Blue Jays and Philadelphia Phillies.
The game begins at 1:05 p.m. at Auto Exchange Stadium, 373 Douglas Ave.
“Mayor Eggers has agreed to wear a Phillies’ jersey at a city council meeting if the Jays lose. Clearwater’s Mayor Cretekos has been challenged to wear a Jay's jersey, at a City Commission meeting, if the Jays win. It should be a fun afternoon of good banter, food and baseball,” Jeff Rhoads, owner of Auto Exchange Stadium, said in an email.
“I think we all agree that baseball is truly a regional interest. This event is an attempt to bring regional awareness to the positive impact professional baseball has on our communities,” Rhoads said.
