DUNEDIN - Dunedin firefighters responded to a structure fire at about 1:40 a.m. Tuesday, April 28, at 514 Lexington St.
When they arrived they found a 22-foot boat on fire and within 10 feet of two adjacent single family homes, according to a report from the fire department. Firefighters quickly protected the homes from exposure and extinguished the boat with foam and water.
The homes sustained minimal damage to siding and no interior damage, the report said.
Prior to firefighters’ arrival, the boat’s owner unsuccessfully attempted to put out the fire. Damage to the boat was estimated at $350.
Dunedin Fire Prevention Bureau is investigating the cause of the fire. Total damage to the houses and boats is estimated at $6,500.
No injuries were reported. Three units from Dunedin Fire responded to the call. They were assisted by Clearwater Fire Department.
