DUNEDIN – Pinellas County Sheriff’s detectives arrested a St. Petersburg woman in connection with the Sept. 5 robbery of the BB&T Bank, 1478 Main St., Dunedin.
Renita Mount Rayner, 52, was charged with one count of unarmed robbery.
According to detectives with the Robbery/Homicide Unit, Rayner entered the BB&T bank at approximately 9:45 a.m. She handed a note to a bank employee, demanding money and implying she had a gun. She told the employee if she was given what she wanted, no one would be hurt. The employee complied and Rayner left the bank with an undisclosed amount of money. No one was hurt.
Citizens in the area found evidence that was disposed of nearby and provided it to detectives. This information assisted in the identification of Rayner.
With the assistance of undercover detectives from the St. Petersburg Police Department, Rayner was located and held until Sheriff’s detectives arrived. Rayner was found shopping at a Save-A-Lot store located at Ninth Street and Seventh Avenue N. in St. Petersburg.
