Kiwanis Adventure Run set

DUNEDIN – The Kiwanis Club is hosting a 5-mile Adventure Run on Honeymoon Island Sunday, Jan. 10, 8:30 a.m. Arrive before 8 a.m. for free admission to the park.

The course is through woodland and beach terrain with some parts on shell service roads. The woodland terrain is hard packed and soft sand, grassy and sugar sand trails. Some spots could be muddy depending on the weather.

The beach portion is soft shell, hard and soft sand. The southern portion has rocks.

No portion of the course is in the surf. The course is challenging.

The race is to go on rain, shine or storm. Preregister or active.com registration is $20 through Wednesday, Jan. 6 or $25 on race day. There are no refunds.

All registered runners receive a T-shirt, but people who do not show up forfeit their shirts.

Awards will go to the top male and female finisher and the top three finishers in each male and female age division. There will be prerace sweets, coffee and hot water and a post race feast.

Proceeds benefit children of Dunedin and Friends of the Island Parks.
