Top dogs to compete on Aug. 6 TAMPA – More than 100 breeds of AKC-certified dogs will fill Expo Hall at the Florida State Fairgrounds on Saturday and Sunday, Aug. 6 and 7, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The dogs will take place in a confirmation competition at the show, sponsored by The Tampa Bay Kennel Club and the Inverness Florida Kennel Club. Vendors will be on hand with hard-to-find dog breeds and dog items.
Admission is $3 adults, $1 children 12 and under. Parking is $5. Guests should enter the fairgrounds through the U.S. Highway 301 gate. The fairground is at 4800 U.S. Highway 301 N. Call the Tampa Bay Kennel Club at (813) 908-8788, ext. 206 or visit www.infodog.com.
Swing Time coming to Gulfport Casino GULFPORT – The Gulfport Casino Ballroom will offer Swing Time on Friday, Aug. 12, 8 p.m. to 1 a.m.
Swing Time will feature The Venturas with new lead singer Ally. The event will get underway with a group swing-dance lesson between 8 and 9 p.m. (no partner needed). Live music and dancing will follow from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. There will be a dance exhibition during the band’s intermission.
Swing Time takes place second Fridays at the casino. Admission is $11 which includes the dance lesson. Parking is free.

Cruise down to pier ST. PETERSBURG – Classic cars and trucks dating back to 1978 and earlier will be on display on Saturday, Aug. 27, noon to 8 p.m., at The Pier. Awards will be given for Best of Show, People’s Choice, DJ’s Choice and more. Proceeds from the show will benefit the Children’s Miracle Network. The Pier is at 800 Second Ave. N.E. Buckler’s Show on tap TAMPA – The Buckler’s Craft and Food Show will be Saturday and Sunday, Aug. 27 and 28, in Expo Hall at the Florida State Fairgrounds. Show hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday.
Professional, award-winning craftspeople from all over the country will be exhibiting and selling their work. The show will include folk art, wood items, furniture, ceramics, dolls, bears, homemade fudge, gourmet delights and other handcrafted items.
Admission is $4 adult, good for both days. Children 12 and under are admitted free with paid adult. Parking is $5. Guests should enter the fairgrounds through the U.S. Highway 301 gate. The fairground is at 4800 U.S. Highway 301 N.
