Plant preservation
LARGO - A day of plant preserving activities has been slated for Jan. 10, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., at the library. Featured acts will include Didgeridoo Down Under, a high-energy Australian themed show combining environmentalism, culture, and music. All children who make an earth saving commitment pledge will receive a prize.
'Field of Dreams'
LARGO - Enjoy “Field of Dreams,” the film based on the novel Shoeless Joe by W.P. Kinsella and starring Kevin Costner and James Earl Jones, at Largo Public Library Sunday, Jan. 11, 1:30 p.m. Join the discussion comparing the book to its big screen adaptation.
Winter book sale
LARGO - The Friends of the Largo Library will have a winter book sale Saturday, Jan. 17, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the library lobby. All books are 50 cents each. Buy two and get one free. Proceeds will benefit the library, located at 120 Central Park Drive. Call the library bookstore at 586-7392.
Friends of Largo Library meeting
LARGO - The annual meeting of the Friends of the Largo Library will be Wednesday, Jan. 21, 2 to 3:30 p.m. in Jenkins Room C at the library. Iris Shalit, president of the Friends of the Largo Library will review the book “The Lace Reader,” by Brunonia Barry. Dessert and tea will be served. There will be no charge for members or prospective members. Reservations should be made by Friday, Jan. 16, at the library bookstore or at www.lplfriends.blogspot.com.
