LARGO – A Clearwater woman was arrested for battery on a law enforcement officer and other charges over the weekend.
Ashley Kendle, 22, was booked into the Pinellas County Jail at 1:44 a.m. on Feb. 2.
According to Largo police reports, the suspect committed a battery on South Pines Drive and fled in her 5.9 Liter Dodge Dakota.
She was followed by the victim’s sons, who had become witnesses to the crash she caused in front of Rosetree Plaza on Ulmerton Road.
She lost a front wheel yet drove another half mile before her truck just stopped moving. When officers arrived, they asked her for her driver’s license and she handed them a compact disk.
This was not the first clue that she was intoxicated. A Largo police officer arrested her and took her to the police department. At this point she decided to fight and had to be subdued with a Taser after she kicked a police sergeant in the hip.
After faking a couple of seizures and making several profane remarks, she was transported to the Pinellas County Jail.
En route to the jail, an officer heard the suspect gathering mucus in her throat and before he could tell her not to, she spat on the side of his face. When she finally got to jail, she fought with detention deputies.
Kendle was charged with two counts of battery on a law enforcement officer, battery and DUI.
