Largo police arrested Lorenzo Guerrero, allegedly the man behind the mask in this Feb. 25 video stabbing at the CVS pharmacy, 4000 East Bay Drive in Largo.
LARGO – Largo police arrested a 23-year-old, who was reportedly under the influence of cocaine, synthetic drugs and Four Loko drinks, for attempted murder Feb. 25.
According to the police and surveillance video, a masked man entered a CVS pharmacy at 4000 East Bay Drive at 12:08 a.m. and ambushed an employee just inside the door. The victim, a 68-year-old man, was stabbed and cut, but was still standing as the attacker ran out through the sliding glass doors, mere moments after the start of the attack.
The victim was transported to Bayfront Medical Center with multiple non-life threatening cuts and stab wounds.
The suspect was later identified as Lorenzo Guerrero, 23, of Largo. Police found the man’s vehicle abandoned in the CVS parking lot and Guerrero himself a short time later. He was taken into custody and booked into Pinellas County Jail by 11 a.m. that day.
Police reported that Guerrero was on a “dangerous cocktail,” which included cocaine, synthetic drugs and Four Loko, an alcoholic energy drink. Guerrero “could not provide any reason for his actions,” the Largo Police Department reported.
Guerrero also is accused of an attempted burglary at Fairway Convenient Store, at 1090 Belcher Road, which occurred just before the attack at CVS. He did not get into the store.
Guerrero is being held without bond in the Pinellas County Jail on one count of attempted murder in the first degree.
