LARGO – A 32-year-old man was killed in an alcohol-related vehicle crash on Starkey Road, just after midnight March 30, according to Largo police.
A 2008 Chevy was headed south on Starkey Road at around 12:44 a.m., when it veered out of control just sound of Ulmerton Road, sliding sideways into a culvert. The car went airborne and rolled at least once, partially ejecting the driver Shannon Ollek, 30. Ollek was pronounced dead at the scene.
Ollek and passenger Kelly Cronin, 55, were not wearing their seatbelts.
Police first reported that Ollek was the passenger and that alcohol was a factor in the crash. Charges had been expected. Police have since determined that Ollek was the driver, charges are no longer pending.
