Largo library releases schedule of upcoming events

LARGO – Pinellas County Health Department Nutritionist Stephanie Tober will be at the Largo Public Library on Tuesday, April 10, 1 p.m., to present her afternoon program “Nutrition for the Over 50 Gang.”
This program highlights the challenges to many older persons and focuses on nutrition and physical fitness. Tober has earned a master of science in nutrition and is a registered and licensed dietitian. This presentation is free and open to the public.
Children in second grade and higher are invited to present a poem to parents, grandparents, and friends on Saturday, April 7, 2 p.m. They can write their own poem, or recite one from a book. Props and costumes will be available to spice up their performances.
Coffee, as well as punch and cookies, will be served to parents supporting their beatnik babies at this cafe-styled event.
Historian and writer Dr. James M. Denham will present “Who are the Florida Crackers” on Thursday, April 5, 7 p.m. The program will explore the historical and cultural characteristics of Florida’s elusive, yet ever-present native folk.
Denham is a specialist in Southern and Florida history and the director of the Center for Florida History at Florida Southern College in Lakeland. This program is funded by the Florida Humanities Council through a grant from the National Endowment for the Humanities and is free and open to the public.
