Largo Medical hosts free health programs

LARGO – Largo Medical Center will offer the following free spring health programs:

• Community Coffee & Hospital Tour – April 17 and May 3 and 17, 9:30 a.m., Classroom A and B. Guests will get a first-hand inside look at the hospital and meet with a registered nurse who will help them select a doctor to meet their needs. Cookies and coffee will be served.

• Leg Pain? It Could Be Your Heart! – April 26, 10 a.m., Classroom A and B. Guests will learn about leg pain and vascular disease from Brenda Rebhan. Peripheral vascular disease is a potentially fatal disease, common in people over 50. PVD warning signs include leg pain, swelling, difficulty walking, numbness and skin discoloration.

• H2U Monthly Meeting – April 6, 1 p.m., Classrooms A and B. April birthdays will be celebrated and a guest speaker will address attendees. To become an H2U member, call 588-5788.

• Emergency 101: Everything You Need To Know To Ask – April 12, 10 a.m., Classrooms A and B. ER tips will be presented from an accredited chest pain and certified primary stroke center. Tom Iovino, Pinellas County communications and emergency management, will share some tips for preparing for medical needs during hurricane season.

• Atrial Fibrillation: Are You At Risk – April 18, 10 a.m., Classrooms A and B. Dr. Gary Dworkin will discuss a minimally invasive procedure. More than 2 million Americans suffer from this debilitating irregular heart rhythm.

• Diabetes Support Group – April 20, 1 p.m., Classrooms A and B. The program Eating on the Run will be conducted by a registered diabetes nurse educator and registered dietitian.

• Look Good, Feel Better – April 23, 10 a.m., Cafι Conference Room. This program for cancer patients details make-up, wigs and other techniques.

• Spine Care Seminar – April 25, 10:30 a.m., Classroom A. Anthony Bernardi will discuss different causes of neck and back pain, what kind of doctors a sufferer should see first and what tests and specialists might be involved in diagnostics and care.

The Florida Knee and Orthopedic Pavilion at Largo Medical Center also will offer partial knee resurfacing seminars at locations throughout Pinellas County. Call 888-685-1594.

• April 16, 11 a.m. – Gulf Beaches Public Library, 200 Municipal Drive, Madeira Beach

• April 20, 11 a.m. – Largo Medical Center, 201 14th St. S.W., Largo

• April 25, 11 a.m. – Clearview United Methodist Church, 4515 38th Ave. N., Clearwater
