LARGO – The city of Largo is sponsoring the Internet-based BRACE for the Storm Workshop for homeowners Tuesday, May 6.
The online workshop will teach participants how to prepare their home for the next hurricane and other disasters that threaten Florida residents. The format allows residents to participate from the comfort of their home or as within a group gathering.
During the two-hour workshop, participants will gain a stronger understanding of how to undertake one or more mitigation projects on their homes to strengthen it against Florida’s next disaster. The workshop also will explain the importance of preparing homes against the damage caused by a flood, wildfire and other disaster.
“For six months each year, the threat from hurricanes are a natural fact of life for all who call Largo home,” said Carol Stricklin, director of city’s Community Development Department. “As we ask residents to prepare themselves and their families for the next hurricane, it is also important for homeowners to make their home safer from the next hurricane by understanding what they can do to mitigate storm damage. We encourage all local homeowners to participate in the up-coming BRACE for the Storm Workshop.”
Workshop participants also will learn how to save money on the windstorm portion of their homeowner’s insurance premium.
