LARGO – An employee of Suncoast Hospice was arrested May 5 for forging time sheets resulting in $44,883 of over payments, according to Largo police.
Marlana Lewis, 27, of St. Petersburg was charged with grand theft and scheme to defraud, both felonies. She was fired March 25 from the Largo hospice at 5771 Roosevelt Blvd., where she was employed as a home-based certified nursing assistant.
The hospice administrative staff called police April 1 to report their suspicions of Lewis, police said. She had forged the signature of a managing employee, they told police. When they confronted her, she admitted to turning in falsified time sheets, according to reports.
Detective Lara Young took on the investigation, determining that Lewis had forged 139 time sheets over three years. Lewis booked into Pinellas County Jail and released the same day on $15,000 bond.
