LARGO - A Largo man was arrested for DUI and other charges following a crash with a Pinellas County Sheriff’s cruiser about 2:29 p.m. Sunday, July 19, at the intersection of Walsingham and Vonn roads.
According to a report from the sheriff’s office, Steven Pate, 35, was arrested for DUI, DUI property damage, DUI bodily injury, habitual felony driving while license suspended or revoked and refusal to submit to a breath test.
Investigators said the cruiser driven by on-duty deputy Kelly Antolini, 32, was headed westbound on Walsingham Road in the median lane, and Pate was driving a Ford Escort eastbound on Walsingham Road in the turn lane.
Pate then made a left hand turn, northbound onto Vonn Road and was struck on the front right side of the vehicle by the cruiser.
Antolini was transported by ambulance to Largo Med for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. Pate was transported by ambulance to Bayfront Medical Center for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. He was treated, released and subsequently arrested.
Deputies said the passenger of the Ford Escort, Richard Brennan, 39, of Largo refused treatment on scene but later transported himself to a local hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.
