LARGO – Pinellas County Sheriff’s deputies arrested a Largo man for abuse of the elderly and battery. The abuse occurred at about 1 a.m. on Friday, July 18, at an assisted living facility in Seminole.

According to deputies, the suspect who is a certified nursing assistant at the ALF, allegedly changed the patient's adult diaper without cleaning him properly. When the 97-year-old male asked the assistant to do it correctly, the suspect refused. The patient then asked him to get the nurse and the suspect refused to do so.

According to the unnamed victim, the suspect subsequently grabbed the victim’s right arm and forcibly used it to trap his left arm up against his chest. He cleaned up the patient in an incomplete manner and left, according to a report from the sheriff’s office.

The patient reported the incident to an employee on the following shift , who in turn reported it to the sheriff's office. Deputies responded. The patient sustained bruising to his wrist and forearm.

Deputies subsequently arrested Arthur Lynn Sanders, 25, for abuse of the elderly/battery, which is a felony. The suspect was arrested at his home on Crosby Street in Largo.
