Largo man celebrates 105th birthday

LARGO – Harold Hecker turns 105 on July 24. Born in Nashville, Mich., Hecker was one of 12 children.
He worked for the Upjohn Co. of Kalamazoo for 45 years and on his 100th birthday attributed his long life to “clean living.
“I never drank or smoked and went to church every Sunday,” he said at the time.
He is a member of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church and was an active shuffleboard player at the Bay Ranch Mobile Home Park before moving to Palm Garden of Pinellas at 200 16th Ave. S.E.
Hecker’s son, Louis, resides in Kalamazoo and a daughter, Louanna Dempsey, resides in Mesa, Ariz. He has several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
