LARGO - Frederick Francis (“Fred”) Stockhausen III, age 66 and resident of Largo, Florida, went to be with his Lord, Wednesday, July 19, 2017.
Born Nov. 8, 1950, in Coral Gables, Florida, to parents, Frederick F. Stockhausen Jr. and Martha A. (nee Bowers) Stockhausen, he grew up in Miami, the eldest of 10 children.
He was a 1968 graduate of Christopher Columbus High School and attended Miami-Dade Community College. A Vietnam War veteran, Fred loved his country, having proudly served in the U.S. Army from 1970-72.
Knowledgeable and creative, Fred never met a project he couldn’t make, do, or repair. A master craftsman, Fred was a self-employed flooring contractor who took pride in his work and reputation, having received recognition in a national flooring publication. Most notably, he was affiliated with Carillon Rug and Floor Center and owner/manager of Crawford and Pearson Carpets, both of Clearwater, Florida.
He passed his creativity and expertise to his eldest son, Sean, who excels in the same profession.
For years, Fred was a member and trustee of the Dunedin-Clearwater Elks Lodge 1525, having served as Exalted Ruler in Clearwater in 1987-88.
With his smile and friendly demeanor, Fred never knew a stranger. An avid Bucs fan, he also enjoyed Air and Monster Truck shows, sailing, fishing and spending relaxing, picturesque summer vacations at the Stockhausen family cabin in Boone, North Carolina.
Fred was predeceased by two of his brothers, John and Stephen Stockhausen.
He is survived by his parents; his sons, Sean (Nicole) Stockhausen of Clearwater, Florida, Keith Stockhausen of Dunedin, Florida, and David Stockhausen of Clearwater, Florida; his sister, Jane (Bruce) Nelson of Inverness, Florida; his brothers, Edward (Nancy) Stockhausen of Houston, Texas, Charles Stockhausen of Orlando, Florida; Peter (Judith) Stockhausen of Miami, Florida, Neal (Wendy) Stockhausen of Charleston, South Carolina, Paul Stockhausen of Chuluota, Florida, Kevin Stockhausen of Miami, Florida; and his former wife, Deborah Stockhausen of Largo, Florida.
