Dr. Amanda Smith, Medical Director USF Byrd Alzheimer s Institute, receives a $1,000 donation from Jim Kalyvas of the Kalyvas Group, owners of Seasons Memory Care.
LARGO – A ground-breaking ceremony was held Aug. 8 for an 80-unit $13 million assisted living facility that will be built at 4175 East Bay Drive.

Seasons Memory Care is expected to open in the fall of 2013 and bring more than 65 jobs to the local economy.

Attending the groundbreaking ceremony was Largo Vice Mayor Harriet Crozier, City Commissioner Michael Smith and Dr. Amanda Smith, medical director of the USF Health Byrd Alzheimer’s Institute, and other dignitaries.

On behalf of Seasons Memory Care & Autumn Senior Living, a $1,000 check was presented to the Byrd Alzheimer’s Institute to be accepted by Dr. Smith. The institute is dedicated to the prevention, treatment and cure of Alzheimer’s disease and related disorders. The Seasons donation will help fund the Byrd Institute’s lab research and clinical trials to test treatments for memory loss, and support its mission of encouraging continued high standards of patient care and student training.

Seasons is a place of “interactive moments” for positive family memories and for just having fun. The four unique neighborhoods that make up Seasons Memory Community will include a ladies-only neighborhood devoted to their personal needs and preferences. “Each neighborhood is designed to best meet the needs of the residents according to the stage of memory loss they are living with,” said Jim Soper, CEO of Autumn Senior Living, which manages Seasons, in a press release. Seasons’ cares for residents with round the clock medical assistance and stimulating daily activities.

Seasons Largo is specially designed for memory care residents. It will be filled with natural light, and community spaces including an atrium, library, living room, family cafe, and a beautiful garden featuring gazebos, landscaping, and gardening beds. Simple floor plans and design help residents orient themselves easily.

Seasons is developing two other new memory care communities: one in Northdale/Carrollwood and another in Belleair

More information can be found at Seasons Memory Care offers a new Memory Care Support and Information Group starting in August in Belleair, facilitated by Karen Truman, a dementia support expert and author.

Seasons Memory Care is managed by Autumn Senior Living LLC and owned by the Kalyvas Group.
