LARGO - Walmart will hire approximately 85 additional associates to work at the new Walmart as part of the Missouri Avenue North store’s relocation. The new store is slated to open this fall.
Interested applicants can apply using the hiring kiosk located at the back of the current store at 1111 Missouri Ave. N., or apply online at careers.walmart.com, indicating store #1712 as the store location.
Through Walmart’s Veterans Welcome Home Commitment, the company will offer a job to any qualified veteran who has been honorably discharged within the past 12 months. Veterans must be within 12 months of active duty and meet Walmart’s standard hiring criteria. Interested veterans may find out more at walmartcareerswithamission.com.
According to store manager Emmanuel Gilliam, the store will be hiring both full- and part-time associates. “These are great jobs and there are plenty of career opportunities that can come from them,” said Gilliam. “I started my Walmart career as an hourly associate unloading trucks, so I understand the possibilities first hand.”
Walmart provides a benefits program to eligible full- and part-time associates. For example, it provides a variety of affordable health and well-being benefits including health-care coverage with no lifetime maximum. Walmart also offers eligible associates matching 401(k) contributions of up to 6 percent of pay, discounts on general merchandise, an Associate Stock Purchase Program and company-paid life insurance. Additionally, eligible associates receive a quarterly incentive based on store performance.
The majority of new associates will begin work in September to help prepare the store for its grand opening.
