LARGO – Two men were shocked by power lines while trimming trees in unincorporated Largo Wednesday afternoon.
According to a report from the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office, Lance Russel, 50, of St. Petersburg and Steven Hansen, 32, of Clearwater, employees of Happy Palms Tree Service, were trimming trees at a private residence on Tallowood Drive when the incident occured. Deputies responded to the call about 3:30 p.m. Aug. 20.
Deputies said the two men were on the ground moving a ladder when the ladder hit a power line causing the two men to be shocked.
Russel was transported to a local hospital via ambulance with non-life threatening injuries. Hansen was transported to a local hospital via ambulance with life-threatening injuries.
The incident does appear to be accidental and not suspicious in nature.
