LARGO – The city of Largo’s fifth annual Recycled Innovations Contest challenges “junk geniuses” to show off their repurposed rubbish to win prizes now through Thursday, Oct. 31.
Children of all ages are invited to participate in this online contest that challenges participants to construct useful items consisting of at least 75 percent otherwise discarded material. Innovators will be competing for prizes such as a solar-powered charger, a solar-powered backpack and a paper-recycling machine.
Largo Recycles’ Facebook friends will determine the winners. Prizes will be awarded to the participants receiving the most online votes in multiple age categories.
For more information and to submit your entry form, visit LargoRecycles.com or call 586-7424. All entries must be received by Oct. 31.
Facebook voting runs from Nov. 1-12 at Facebook.com/LargoRecycles. On Friday, Nov.15, America Recycles Day, winners will be invited to join the city of Largo’s Recycling Coordinator on CBS’s mid-day television program, Studio 10, to receive their prizes.
