LARGO – The Rotary Club of Largo’s 11th annual Death by Chocolate fundraising event will be on Friday, Dec. 8, at the Largo Cultural Center. Local restaurants, chefs, caterers, confectioners and businesses provide samples of their specialty chocolate desserts for tasting. Each year nearly 1,000 residents and business leaders attend Death by Chocolate to enjoy the desserts, participate in a silent auction and support their local community. For many people, Death by Chocolate signals the official start of the holiday season.
In addition, the Rotary Club of Largo provides scholarships for local high school students, contributes to Rotary’s Camp Florida, a summer camp for children with special needs, funds and maintains the Rotary Rainbow Playground at Largo Central Park, sponsors local high school students to participate in the International Peace Conference and sponsors several community outreach programs targeting at-risk youth.
Death by Chocolate is funded entirely by private donations and sponsors are appreciated in supporting this worthy endeavor. Sponsors receive many benefits. The deadline for sponsorships is Sunday, Oct. 15. Checks can be mailed to Largo Rotary, P.O. Box 578, Largo, FL 33779. Call Darla Evans at 510-3441.
