LARGO – Largo police Largo man Nov. 1, who they say was selling drugs in the alley behind his house.
Areeas Jones, 43, now faces three felony charges for the sale of crack cocaine within 1,000 feet of a chuch and four counts for the possession of cocaine within 1,000 feet of a church.
Officer L. Moore received a tip that someone was selling “large quantities of narcotics” in the alley behind a home on First Avenue Northeast, according to Largo police. Residents also reported tips due to an increased traffic to the neighborhood.
The special operations unit of the department investigated between August and late October. They were able to develop six felony charges against Jones and gained a search warrant at his address in Largo, at 619 First Ave. N.E., Apt. B.
The department served the warrant and arrested Jones as well as Jasmine Helm, 28. Helm was charged with possession of crack cocaine within 1,000 feet of a church. Her bond was set at 50,000. According to court documentation, she lived in the apartment with Jones.
Bond for Jones was set at $700,000 - $100,000 for each charge.
