LARGO – The Largo Police Department’s traffic safety unit received several awards at Remove Intoxicated Drivers, or R.I.D., Tampa Bay’s annual “We All Make A Difference” awards banquet on Nov. 8.
Four officers were recognized for the high number of driving under the influence arrests they made in their efforts to remove intoxicated drivers from the streets of Largo, saving countless lives, according to the department. Those awarded were Officer Ann Starling, Officer Steve Calderone, Officer Jorge Alameda and Officer Christine Silverstein.
The Traffic Unit also was the recipient of the Great Bay Distributors’ 2012 Traffic Unit of the Year award.
