LARGO – Pinellas County Sheriff’s detectives arrested a licensed massage therapist about 7:30 p.m. Monday, Dec. 9, for one-count sexual battery.
Detectives began investigating the case on November 19, 2013, after a 53-year-old female victim reported the crime to the Sheriff’s Office.
The victim told detectives that she purchased five massages via a “Groupon” special at Ronnie’s Body Work Massage, 10671 104th Ave. N. in Largo. Detectives said the victim told them she had no issues during the first two initial massages, but that on the third, the suspect quickly touched her in an inappropriate manner.
She told investigators that she did not confront the suspect, Ronald Bruinius, 36, at that time as she thought it may have been a mistake. During her fifth massage session, Bruinius touched her in a sexual manner and the victim ended the session. The alleged incident occurred July 24.
Detectives said there may be other victims and ask anyone with information to contact Detective Guy Kirby of the Special Victims Unit at 727-582-6200.
Bruinius was transported to the Pinellas County Jail without further incident. Bond was set at $50,000.
