LARGO – Delaney Streicher’s 12th birthday fell on a complete set of 12’s: Dec. 12, 2012.
For the past several years, Delaney, who lives in Largo, has opted to skip the birthday party and presents in order to donate the costs to Toys for Tots instead. She wanted to save the big party for her extra special birthday.
Her party this year will be held at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Largo on Friday, Dec. 14. She still wishes to forgo presents, asking instead for donations “to help furnish supplies to schools and students who lost so much during Hurricane Sandy,” her birthday invitations state.
Delaney is an honor student at Clearwater Fundamental Middle School and a member of Prince of Peace Church. She’s also a volunteer for the program “Ruth’s Promise,” helping with the elderly on days when she’s not in school and assists her grandmother, Barb Lindenmeyer, to serve communion to shut-ins and visit nursing homes.
“Delaney is very compassionate, caring and loving,” Lindenmeyer stated. “All this makes my granddaughter special and I want to wish her a very happy birthday!”
