LARGO – Last year, Jeremy Watton had an opportunity to shop for Christmas presents with a Largo police officer. He was so impacted by the positive experience that he wanted to give back.
So the 13-year-old decided to help support the Shop with a Cop program. His parents and a few local businesses donated items to him for a weekend raffle. On Dec. 4, Jeremy presented a $500 donation to Largo Police Chief John Carroll.
Jeremy’s goal is to be a police officer, as a K9 officer and a detective. He also has taken on the mission to end world bullying.
Shop with a Cop provides families in need with gift cards and the opportunity to do their holiday shopping with a police officer or firefighter. On Saturday, Dec. 15, Carroll and his staff, along with firefighters, will be shopping with local families at the Walmart at 1111 Missouri Ave. N., starting at 8 a.m.
