PALM HARBOR – The following events are planned at the East Lake Community Library in March.
Special events
• Kindle, Nook, and iPad classes, Available on some Saturdays. Call for dates and times.
• Antique Appraisal Fair, Saturday, March 2, 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Bring antiques and/or collectibles and get them appraised. Limit three items. Cost is $5 an item or $10 for three items.
• Sunday at the Library Concert Series, Sunday, March 10, 2 p.m. Angelica performs a concert featuring harp and flute. Tickets are $10.
• Investing 101, Thursday, March 14, 11:30 a.m. This month’s topic will be “protecting what’s important.”
• Travel Show – Water, Planes, Trains and Automobile Trips, Friday, March 15, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Join the Florida Cruise Planners for this informative program detailing the ins and outs of travel by water, plane, train or automobile inside the U.S. and abroad.
• Blood Mobile, Monday, March 18, 1 to 4 p.m. Help others by donating blood. Offered by Florida Blood Services.
• Recovery International, Tuesday, March 19, 1 p.m., and Tuesday, March 26, 6:30 p.m.
• Authors Showcase, Tuesday, March 19, 6:30 p.m. This month’s featured author is Augusta Scattergood.
• Book Club, The first Wednesday of every month, 6:30 p.m. This month’s selection will be “The Commoner” by John Burnham Schwartz.
• Sit and Sew, the third Wednesday of every month, 6 p.m. All needlecrafts are encouraged. Enjoy quality time “stitched” with tips and new ideas.
• ELCL Quilters, The fourth Wednesday of every month, 6 p.m.
Adult programs
• ELCL Cinema: Tuesday, March 5, 1 p.m. Call for details.
• Friends of East Lake Library Board Meeting: Tuesday, March 5, 6:30 p.m. The public is welcome to attend.

• Advisory Board Meeting, Tuesday, March 12, 6:30 p.m.
• Investing 101, Thursday, March 14, 11:30 am. This month’s topic will be Protecting What’s Important. This workshop will focus on insurance and what type could be right for you. Lunch will be provided, please register to attend.

• ELCL Authors Showcase, Tuesday, March 19, 6:30 p.m. This month’s featured author is Augusta Scattergood whose debut young adult novel is “Glory Be,” set in a Mississippi town in 1964. Her book takes a poignant look at friendship, family, and difficult choices. Come join us for an interesting talk.
• Book Club, the first Wednesday of every month from 6:30 to 7:45 p.m. This month’s selection is “The Commoner” by John Burnham Schwartz. This novel is set in Japan in the late 1950s and depicts a non-aristocratic woman who marries into the royal family of the Chrysanthemum Throne. Come join our lively discussion.
• ELCL Writer’s Critique Group, the second and fourth Monday of each month from 6 to 7:45 p.m. This is a workshop for writers of all levels. Read excerpts of your works in progress and receive helpful feedback.
• Sit and Sew, the third Wednesday of every month from 6 to 7:45 p.m. All needlecrafts are encouraged. Enjoy quality time “stitched” with tips and new ideas.
• ELCL Quilters, the fourth Wednesday of every month, 6 p.m.
Computer classes
• Lego Robotics Tutoring, A new session has started up every Thursday at 4 p.m. and will continue until Thursday, March 21. This program is for tutoring only, it is not an East Lake Library sponsored item. Ages: Middle School and up. Registration is required.
• Computer Boot Camp. Call East Lake Library for your one-on-one session with our teen computer experts. Registration is required.
• Master Computer Class, Saturdays. All skill levels will benefit from this one-on-one assistance. Word, Excel, and more! Registration is required.
Children’s programs
• Art Class with Lauren, Saturday, March 9, 10:30 a.m. For ages 5-8.
• Read to Shorty, Wednesday, March 13, 3:15 p.m. after Lego Club. Children can read to Shorty, a wonderful therapy dog who can help you improve your reading skills.
• Saturday Matinee: Saturday, March 16, 1 p.m. Call for details.
• Lego Club, Wednesdays at 2:15 p.m., all ages.
• Teen Tutors, Free assistance with math, English, reading, and biology. Call the East Lake Library for times. Registration required.
• Toddler Story Time, Tuesdays, 10:15 a.m., ages birth to 3 years. Children enjoy stories and songs while sitting with their favorite grown-up.
• Preschool Story Time, Tuesdays, 11 a.m., ages 3 to 5.
• Yoga Story Time, First Tuesday of the month, 11 a.m. to noon.
